 Belgium's history begins during the turn of the century when a limestone quarry was opened up on the site currently known as Harrington State Park. Visitors of Harrington State Park can still witness the remains of the make-shift village that became of the area during the mining period of the early 1900's.

Harrington beach contains a nature trail, a lake where the quarry was, a pond stocked with trout annually, lakeside beaches on Lake Michigan and picnic areas. Harrington State park is a great place to spend relaxing afternoons observing nature at it's finest because Harrington Park is a wildlife reserve.
